Appointment booking for eye clinics
At an eye clinic the follow-up is part of the treatment: the visit after cataract surgery, the pressure check, the yearly review for a diabetic patient. Showup books those visits, reminds patients before each one, and recalls them when the next is due.
Where eye clinics lose track
Post-operative follow-ups
Patients feel fine after surgery and skip the one-week or one-month check, which is exactly the visit the surgeon needs.
Visits of very different lengths
A refraction with the optometrist, a dilated examination and a consultant review all take different times, and they rarely fit a fixed grid.
Yearly reviews forgotten
Patients who should be seen every year, such as diabetics or glaucoma patients, only come back when their sight changes.
How eye clinics use Showup
- 01
Book follow-ups before the patient leaves
Reception books the post-op visits at discharge. Each one gets a WhatsApp reminder, and the patient can confirm with 1.
- 02
Optometrist and consultant side by side
Each practitioner has their own column and hours. Services carry their own durations, so a long examination is never squeezed into a short slot.
- 03
One-year recall
Tap +1 year on the patient with a reason such as “annual eye check”. On the due date they appear on the recall list with the message ready.

Eye clinics: common questions
01Can follow-ups after surgery be booked in advance?
Yes. Reception books each follow-up as an appointment, weeks or months ahead. Every one gets its own reminder.
02Can the optometrist and the consultant have different appointment lengths?
Durations belong to services, so set a refraction, a dilated examination and a consultant review at the lengths they really take. Each practitioner keeps their own hours.
03Can we record vision or prescriptions?
No. Showup holds appointments, not clinical records: no visual acuity, refraction results or prescriptions.
